The country study provides a picture of the textile and garment industry in Romania, its labour laws, conditions and industrial relations within the industry. It is prepared by collecting information about national laws and local stakeholders’ views on labour issues.
The introduction gives a general picture of the level of development, the outlook for the industry in the country and the major challenges when it comes to implementing FWF’s Code of Labour Practices. Chapter 2 on general country information describes the social, political and governance situation and provides information on income and poverty and on the general human rights situation. Chapter 3 on stakeholders briefly presents the main stakeholders active in the garment and textile industry. Chapter 4 offers an overview of the situation of the garment industry in the country. Chapter 5 on industrial relations gives a description of the trade union situation in the country. Chapter 6 assesses the implementation of the FWF Code of Labour Pracitices.
