Black professionals in fashion face widespread discrimination and prejudice – a testament to the fashion industry’s historically racist and exclusionary nature. In the current report, the results of the 2021 Black in Fashion Council (BIFC) Survey, which was coordinated by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation in the Spring of the same year, are compiles and presented. In this survey 30 participants were asked to answer questions about their company’s current Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policies and practices.
The four major criteria selected for this survey were: Workplace Nondiscrimination, Building an Inclusive Culture, Engaging the Black Community and Corporate Social Responsibility.
